You Make My Dreams Come True

Here is one of the funniest pics of the new year: The annual Joshua Tree pic, with all four of us on our iPhones. What is the world coming to?
And now for the real reason for this post:

I briefly worked as an Intern on Hall & Oats episode of VH1's Behind the Music. I loved being exposed to music that is more along the "classic" or "super pop" or whatever you wanted to call it. It was like this giant Pandora's box of brilliantness was spilled on me, and I had to listen as fast as I could to catch up on at least a good 50 years of music that I wasn't alive to hear first hand.

That said, I dug up this song today in my iTunes. I am bound and determined to own as many genres, bands, decades of music possible. I want to be able to listen to anything. Whenever. I love that I live in an age where this is possible. I need to spend at least days in Amoeba catching up on albums that I don't currently own.

Just read these lyrics. They are so moving. Even though this is a song that conventionally I would probably not like, today it sort of made sense. And made me dream about things I want to accomplish in life, which is pretty dramatic to say, but whatever. It did. :)

WHY is music so moving/amazing/brilliant/inspiring/emotional/comforting/explaining/dramatic/intense/satisfying?

Hall & Oats - You Make My Dreams Come True

"What I want, you've got
And it might be hard to handle
But like the flame that burns the candle
The candle feeds the flame
What I've gots full stock of thoughts and dreams that scatter
You pull them all together
And how, I cant explain
But you make my dreams come true
On a night when bad dreams become a screamer
When they're messin' with the dreamer
I can laugh it in the face
Twist and shout my way out
And wrap yourself around me
cause I ain't the way that you found me
I'll never be the same
cause you make my dreams come true
I'm down on the daydream
That sleepwalk should be over by now
I know that you make my dreams come true"
What I want, youve got
And it might be hard to handle
But like the flame that burns the candle
The candle feeds the flame
What Ive gots full stock of thoughts and dreams that scatter
You pull them all together
And how, I cant explain
But you make my dreams come true
On a night when bad dreams become a screamer
When theyre messin with the dreamer
I can laugh it in the face
Twist and shout my way out
And wrape yourself around me
cause I aint the way that you found me
Ill never be the same
cause you may my dreams come true
Im down on the daydream
That sleepwalk should be over by now
I know that you make my dreams come true
