Tonight my 5th grade self reemerged.
I got to see New Kids on the Block! MAJOR probs to Amber for securing these premium and much desired tickets.
This was NKOTB's first show in FIFTEEN years. That is over half my life BTW.
The night opened with a powerful short documentary - highlighting the kids career and where they hope to take the band in the future. A rushing flood of elementary school memories came back to me as footage from the cartoon, concerts, etc montage flashed before us. The build up was incredible - these fans are STILL crazy.
They opened up the show with a past songs medley - Step by Step, Please don't go girl, Hanging Tough, You got it (The Right Stuff), Stop it Girl, and probably some others that I forgot about.
Then after the medley was completed, Donny introduced the group to the crowd. (As if we needed it). From there they performed their new single "Summertime". It was super fun, and the boys were just as great as they were back in the day. It was so crazy - and I was glad I had earplugs, as the screaming was just as loud as back in the day. I remember reports that the screaming was so loud you couldn't even hear the kids singing.
After Summertime, they closed with the crowd favorite "Tonight" from the Step by Step album. The crowd sang seamlessly in unison - as if the past 18 years didn't separate us from each other - yet drew us all together. (That song was released in 1990).
I saw at least 4 NKOTB black and red hanging tough tour bomber jackets. AMAZING.
moonlight - illuminates your stare and it's great, captivating you. Does that trouble you? I didn't mean to trouble you...
